With pronounced heart failure, the capacity to function is mostly restricted by a shortness of breath. In addition, fluid retention can also be suffered (decompensation). Under certain conditions (e.g. a left bundle branch block), cardiac insufficiency and the associated symptoms can be notably improved by the implantation of a special pacemaker or defibrillator. The capacities of patients treated by CRT increase to 80-90%. The implantation of a CRT pacemaker or defibrillator is carried out by Dr. Matula and Prof. Korte during a 2-3 day stay at the Dritter Orden Clinic. Follow-up checks, lasting 3-6 months, are carried out within the Pacemaker Clinic in the practice’s cardiac catheterization lab.
