With hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a rare heart muscle disease, the heart muscle is much too thick. The unnaturally thick heart muscle can hinder blood being pumped out into main artery (the aorta). This can be corrected through what is known as a TASH procedure, in which absolute alcohol becomes injected into a coronary artery near the septum, causing the clearly too thick heart muscle to thin out. Dr. Rampp carries out this procedure during a 2-3 day stay at the Dritter Orden Clinic.
